AN EYEBROW specialist and her Abergele-based salon won three titles between them at this year’s British Hair and Beauty Awards.

Lorna Roythorne Du-Ross, owner of RDR Beauty Clinic based on Market Street, won gold for “semi-permanent makeup artist of the year”, and bronze for “microblading artist of the year”, at this year’s awards.

In addition RDR Beauty Clinic was named gold “salon of the year” at the ceremony, which was held virtually on Monday, July 25.

Lorna set up the salon four years ago, and was also named “microblading expert of the year” at last year’s British Hair and Beauty Awards, and “semi-permanent makeup specialist of the year” at last year’s Welsh Hair and Beauty Awards.

Lorna watched the awards ceremony with her sister-in-law Gemma, who also works at the salon, and their families, and was as surprised as she was delighted.

She said: “I definitely didn’t expect to win salon of the year at all!

“Salon of the year is a huge one, but for me, on a personal level, I’m so passionate about my semi-permanent makeup, that I think that award (meant the most) as a personal achievement.

“But the salon of the year award is incredible for all of our clients as well, because it means so much to everyone. I’d say our two gold ones are on a par.

“In August, we might do something nice (to celebrate) with the family, and we’ll be doing something nice with all of our clients in the salon to celebrate.

“As much as it’s lovely for us, we wouldn’t be able to achieve of this without them.

“We just keep growing and growing. It’s hard work, but I’m very proud of what we’re achieving. It’s a privilege to do what we do.”

Microblading is a form of semi-permanent makeup that uses an ultra-fine blade to create hair-like strokes to shape the eyebrows.

Lorna has four years’ experience of microblading, and has ran her own salon for the last nine years.
