A MAN from Abergele was selected to run his first international race, representing Wales in the annual England vs Wales Marathon Masters Championships at the Chester Marathon.
John Jones finished ninth in his age group (V65, 3:40:07) and 886th overall out of 4,586 finishers yesterday (October 8).

Conditions were perfect for the start, but the unseasonal hot weather towards the end of the race took its toll on lots of finishers.
This was John’s third marathon this year, starting in Japan, London and now Chester.
Meanwhile, seven runners from Abergele were taking part in the Bangor 10k and Half Marathon.
Half Marathon: Gareth Jones 60th 1:48:01 David Jones, NWRR finished 69th 1:50:32; Paul Quinton 115th 1:58:19; Mike Powell 156th 2:06;40; Carol Moss, NWRR 180th, 2nd V55, 2:13:24.
10k: Hilary Powell 1:01; Julie Jones 90th 1:03:08.
