THE Poundland shop in Rhyl is to show its new look on Saturday (April 6) after a major makeover.

Based at 61-71 High Street, work has been taking place at the store for two weeks to ensure that it is ready to offer more choice to shoppers.

This is part of Poundland’s “Project Evo” plans for 150 stores in the UK and Ireland to have new looks by the end of August.

As part of the transformation, stores are getting fresh new signage, flooring and lighting, while back office colleague areas will also be given a makeover to make them better places to work.

The refresh will be the first significant investment in the majority of these stores for more than five years.

Each store will offer customers the most comprehensive ranges that can be accommodated in the location, including chilled and frozen food, and the latest clothing and homewares ranges from by Poundland’s parent company, Pepco.

After the alterations, all stores will have been reconfigured to offer more baby and children’s clothing than before.

The introduction of chilled food will see these stores bring Poundland’s £3 meal deal to each location.

Poundland’s director of property services, Alan Smallman, said: “Project Evo represents a significant investment in a substantial number of stores to make them brilliant places to shop and work.

“Over the past five years we’ve transformed our offer for customers, adding extensive ranges of clothing, homewares, chilled and frozen food.

“We’re now embarking on a programme that will show off those ranges in a modern and bright environment that’s easy to shop, navigate and checkout.

“We look forward to bringing our best offer to these 150 stores over the coming months.”

Since opening its first store in Burton-upon-Trent in 1990, Poundland has built a network of more than 800 shops in the UK and Ireland.
