CARD Factory is set to open a new store at a Rhyl retail park unit which had been expected to be taken on by Papa Johns.

The greeting cards and gifts retailer had applied for advertisement consent (one fascia and one projection sign) at unit 10 of Marina Quay Retail Park.

This was lodged with Denbighshire County Council’s planning committee on January 23, with approval granted yesterday (March 6).

Rhyl Town Council also raised no objections to the plans when consulted on them in February.

In August 2022, an application from Papa Johns to make “minor external alterations to the shopfront, side and rear elevations” of unit 10 was approved by the planning committee.

Popular chicken franchise Pepe’s Piri Piri opened at the adjacent unit 11 at Marina Quay Retail Park in November.

Card Factory has been contacted for further comment regarding when the new store is expected to open, and whether this means its current Rhyl shop, on High Street, will close.
