A MAN from Rhyl has been jailed after he stole multiple items, including a Christmas tree, weeks after receiving a suspended sentence for previous thefts.

Anthony Horan, 44, of Church Street, was sentenced to 51 weeks’ imprisonment at Llandudno Magistrates’ Court on January 16 after admitting four counts of theft from a shop.

On October 25, 2023, Horan was handed a suspended sentence after admitting a “spree” of thefts and one attempted theft.

But, the court heard, on October 31, Horan stole air fresheners to the value of £119.69 from Rhyl’s Home Bargains store.

Horan then stole a Christmas tree worth £199.99, and an air fryer valued at £89.99, from The Range in Rhyl on November 9.

On November 21, he stole an Armani coat and hoody to the value of £305 from Rhyl’s Sports Direct shop.

He had previously stolen from The Range and Sports Direct in Rhyl during the thefts which led to his suspended sentence.

Horan was said to have shown a “complete disregard” for his suspended sentence, and was banned from entering Rhyl’s Sports Direct shop for one year.

In addition, he was warned not to enter any shop or retail premises where he has been banned from, either verbally or in writing, in England and Wales.
