MORE than 100 people attended a civic service for the mayor of Towyn and Kinmel Bay. 

Cllr Louise Formston is the town mayor for 2023 / 2024. Cllr Formston, who is married to Andy and has a stepson called Joshua, has lived in Towyn for 20 years and has served as town councillor for the past 18 months.

The service, at St Mary's Church in Towyn on Sunday, September 17, featured performances by children from Ysgol Y Fforydd and also the Tenovous choir.

Readings were conducted by Darren Millar and Nicola Rowlands. The service was conducted by Reverend Janet Crane.

In her mayor's message, cllr Formston referenced the community and the work that goes on behind the scenes by schools, groups and councils.

She said: "Each community needs passionate people to come together to make a town a great one and we have a wonderful array of people that bring all different strengths and skills to make that happen."

A number of mayors from other neighbouring towns were present as were county councillors and Darren Millar, MS for Clwyd West.
