A WOMAN said she and her travelling party left Pontins’ Prestatyn Sands site early last weekend after encountering a “horrible experience”.

Becky Swiers, from Harrogate, was due to spend the night at the holiday park on both July 7 and 8, but left after the first evening after finding it to be an “absolute dive”.

She, her partner and their two friends had paid £195 to rent a chalet at the park for the two nights, but Becky said she will never return following this experience.

Problems she found at Prestatyn Sands, she said, included a lack of cleanliness, bad language, and customer service which she considered to be substandard.

Becky said: “We were booked in for two nights, but it was just vile, so we just went home. I don’t know how it’s allowed to stay trading; it’s just such a hellhole.

“When we got there, it was so dirty, the language was unbelievable, there was vomit, there was broken glass on the pathways, the beds were stained. It was just awful.

“When I went down to complain, there was nobody on the reception. The accommodation was the worst thing; I don’t think it had ever been cleaned.

“There were marks on the walls; the curtains were hanging off the rails… it was just an absolute dive. I wouldn’t let my dog stay there.”

Attempts to lodge a formal complaint to Pontins, she said, have so far proved fruitless.

She added that she is seeking an apology from the company following her experience at the holiday park.

Last summer, the Journal was told of numerous other bad experiences that holidaymakers had at Prestatyn Sands; including one person who described the site as “like a council estate with maisonette flats”.

Another said they found a dead mouse and pubic hairs in their apartment room upon their arrival.

Meanwhile, the chain which owns Pontins, Britannia Hotels, was ranked the worst of its kind in the UK for the 10th year running in November.

Becky said: “I’ve tried to complain to Pontins, but they won’t get back to me. I got into the room and burst into tears.

“I just wanted to bring this (experience) to everyone’s attention; in this day and age, not to have a clean room or site, and unkept grounds with litter, vomit and broken glass everywhere, I just don’t know how they’re allowed to get away with it.

“I would never set foot in that place again. I get that it’s a budget holiday place, but I wasn’t expecting to have to put up with what I put up with.

“It was just horrific; I’ve never stayed anywhere so bad in all of my life.”

Numerous attempts were made to contact Pontins for a response.
