The Rhyl Little Theatre is counting down to the opening night of High School Musical Jr.

The show will be performed from April 27 - 29.

High School Musical is a fun-filled musical based on the 2006 Disney Channel Original Movie.

The Rhyl Little Theatre cast includes 38 students led by Director Caitlin Armitage Conway and Assistant Director Katie Brewerton.

Caitlin and Katie said: “We are extremely excited to be directing this iconic show.

"This movie made a massive impact on our childhoods so there was no question that we wanted to do this together. We are loving sharing our passion with the cast seeing them fall in love with the show the same way we did. They have all worked incredibly hard in such a short amount of time and deserve all the support in the world.”

This up-beat throwback to the ins and outs of high school drama promises to be a nostalgic romp for young and old alike.

Adapted for young performers, this musical includes favourite High School Musical songs such as “Get’cha Head in the Game,” “Stick to the Status Quo,” and “We’re All in This Together.”

The Rhyl Little Theatre has been in the heart of the community of Rhyl since 1963. Originally built to house the Rhyl Children's Theatre Club, which still runs today, it was the first purpose built theatre for children in the UK.

As of February 2023, the theatre is used by around 170 children.

The Rhyl Little Theatre will also bring Frozen Jr to life later in 2023.

The 60-minute musical, is based on the 2013 Disney film and the 2018 Broadway adaptation. The Rhyl Little Theatre cast includes 44 students led by Director Arlena Thornton.

Disney’s High School Musical Jr and Disney’s Frozen JR. are presented through special arrangement with and all materials are provided by Music Theatre International.
