THE BBC television programme “Saving Lives at Sea” was filmed in both Rhyl and Abergele last month.
“Blast! Films”, the production company behind the programme, filmed at both Rhyl’s Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) station, and at The Hoptimist, a pub in Abergele.
“Saving Lives at Sea” has aired for seven series so far, and documents the lives of the men and women of the RNLI
The filming covered two main stories - a Christmas Day call-out for the Rhyl RNLI crew to reports of an upturned boat/person in the water, and a medical evacuation from a cruise ship.

A backstory with one of the RNLI members, Colin T Jones, was also filmed, showing him singing and playing guitar at The Hoptimist, which he does in his spare time.
Colin said: "It's fantastic to see Rhyl RNLI being featured on Saving Lives at Sea again; this is a great program for showcasing the volunteers of the charity and some of the work we do.
“As part of the series, they like to include backstories, and hopefully some of my live music will be seen on the show.”
These stories will not definitely be included in the final series, which is set to air towards the end of 2023.
