A WOMEN’S friendship organisation in Rhyl invited a guest speaker from a charity that helps those with additional needs and disabilities to their latest meeting.

The Inner Wheel of Rhyl is one of more than 100 Inner Wheel clubs worldwide, which allows women to create friendship, service and understanding within their community.

In their most recent meeting, Rhyl’s Inner Wheel welcomed Sarah McCulloch of STAND North Wales, a parent-led charity for families of children and young adults with additional needs and disabilities.

STAND was started ten years ago by Sarah and Yvonne Brookes, who have personal experience of dealing with these challenges, and now employ nine members of staff.

Inner Wheel of Rhyl president Sharon Webster has chosen the charity as its patron for 2023, and also inducted a new member into the Inner Wheel group at the event.

An Inner Wheel of Rhyl spokesperson said: “We met as in Elwy Hall as is usual to have a lovely lunch and a catch-up after Christmas.

“It was very interesting to learn about something that most of us I can safely say, had no or little knowledge of.

“President Sharon also inducted Sue Thomas into Inner Wheel - we are fortunate to have another prospective member for us to welcome into our club.”
