A CHARITY in Rhyl dedicated to support homeless and vulnerable mothers is to open its own wellbeing hub in the town’s shopping centre.

“Blossom & Bloom” hopes to open the hub at Unit 19 of the White Rose Centre (opposite Boots) on April 1.

It aims to create an environment where mums and babies can feel supported, socially engage with others, develop and feel safe.

It will also be offering a baby essentials swap shop, holistic therapies and life coaching, family-friendly cooking on a budget sessions, cost of living advice, support on maximising income potential, employment/self-employment opportunities, and benefits help.

The charity, founded by Vicky Welsman-Millard in 2020, is currently based at Costigan’s Coworking Space on Bodfor Street.

Vicky appealed for donations to assist the charity in setting up the wellbeing hub.

You can support the charity by clicking the “donate” link on its website (www.blossomandbloom.org.uk).

She said: “I was a young mum myself and was aware that there were many young mums in Rhyl struggling, specifically in homeless accommodation at the time.

“That gave me the idea of starting the charity – to provide support to homeless and vulnerable mums in the area.

“We get the keys on Tuesday (January 31), and our plan is to open properly on April 1. It just gives us a couple of months to renovate it and get it up to scratch.

“We had some Community Renewal Funding, but since that ended, we’re basically without funding at the moment.

“The unit is being given to us rent-free by the White Rose Centre; that’s what made it possible.

“What we’re looking for is people and local businesses to get behind us through fundraising and donations, if possible. We’re looking at £5,000 just for the renovations and the signage.

“We’ve been supporting women since 2020 and there’s a desperate need for it (wellbeing hub). We’ve outgrown our space in Costigan’s, and we want the mums and babies to have their own space where the babies can get out and play in their own, safe environment.”
