A PARAKEET that fled from its owner’s home in Towyn has become a celebrity, with multiple sightings of the bird as the owner appeals for its safe return.

Bluey, a teal/cerulean/white quaker parrot, was accidentally set free by owner's neighbour Tammy, and has been on the loose for three weeks.

Having been spotted by numerous people around the town, Bluey has become a local celebrity, with many reporting on his location but unable to catch him.

The owner said of the five-month-old parakeet: “I need someone to help me catch him because it won’t survive in the cold weather when it gets to the winter.”

The neighbour Tammy blames herself for the whole saga, saying she “felt bad” for what has transpired since she let the bird go.

The elusive bird has become the talk of Towyn, and while most have attempted to help the owner, others have been less sympathetic, with one resident saying “He's living his best life – birds don't belong in cages”.

Others have claimed to have captured the bird and kept him.

The owner added that she needed “more people to help” her catch him, saying: “I just want my Bluey back where belongs – he is only a baby, I miss him so much.”
