A HOLIDAY park in Towyn is looking to offer employment opportunities to those who have lost their jobs due to the closure of Pontins’ site in Prestatyn.

Prestatyn Sands Holiday Park, on Barkby Avenue, shut for good on November 30, having been open since 1971.

Following this news, Ty Mawr Holiday Park, which is run by Parkdean Resorts, has encouraged those made redundant by the Pontins site’s closure to apply for roles at its premises.

There are plans to hold recruitment days at Ty Mawr before the 2024 holiday season gets underway, with a wide range of different career opportunities available.

A spokesperson for Ty Mawr Holiday Park said: “We were sorry to hear about the closure of Pontins Prestatyn Sands.

“We will be holding recruitment days before we begin the 2024 season, and we’d welcome applications from ex-Pontins workers, as well as anybody else looking to begin a rewarding career in hospitality.

“There are 250 different careers available across our business, and we’ll be recruiting for roles including cleaners, chefs, receptionists, lifeguards, security officers, and bar, kitchen and waiting team members.”

Similarly, Lyons Holiday Parks also invited former Pontins Prestatyn staff members to apply for jobs at its numerous sites across North Wales after its closure.

Staff at Prestatyn Sands were informed that the site shut due to a decline in business, the Journal was told.

Some members of staff had their employment terminated with immediate effect, while others were instructed to continue working at the park until further notice.

A number of staff members told the Journal that they only learnt of the park’s closure when they read about it on Facebook, meanwhile.
