A HOLIDAY park company in North Wales is looking to offer employment opportunities to those who have lost their jobs due to the closure of Pontins’ site in Prestatyn.

Prestatyn Sands Holiday Park, on Barkby Avenue, shut for good yesterday (November 30), having been open since 1971.

Following this news, Lyons Holiday Parks, which has 20 sites across North Wales and Cumbria, has extended its sympathies to those made redundant as a result.

The company has also encouraged those people to send their CVs to its recruitment department, in a bid to help families have a positive view of at least starting 2024 with employment opportunities.

Those affected can send their details to jobs@lyonsholidayparks.co.uk, or head to: lyonsgroup.wufoo.com/forms/q143dv5x1s6vxqn.

Lyons is also holding a drop-in recruitment session at Lyons Robin Hood, Rhyl, on December 8 from 10am-2pm.

A family-run business founded in Rhyl in 1924, Lyons Holiday Parks’ team consists of many varied departments and roles, from activities, entertainment and sales, to head office, accounts and marketing.

The group can also offer live-in accommodation if anyone wants to consider relocating to Lyons Sunnysands Holiday Park in Talybont, and others in Barmouth.

No reason has yet been given for Prestatyn Sands’ closure, but the Journal has contacted Britannia Hotels, the company which owned the park, for comment.

Pontins said that customers whose bookings will be affected by the closure will be contacted and refunded.

Lyons Holiday Parks won two gold prizes at this year’s British Travel Awards earlier this week, meanwhile.
