MONEY is being raised to support the family of a grandmother-of-five and chef who was affectionately dubbed the 'Kitchen Mum' by colleagues.

Georgina Jones, known as Gina, had worked at the Talardy in St Asaph for nine years. She died suddenly of cardiac failure, from a tear in the aorta, in August.

Now her colleagues are preparing to host a 'Halloween Fun Quiz' in aid of Gina and her family. This will take place on Monday, October 30 from 8pm.

Frank Gledhill, general manager at the Talardy, said: "Gina was dearly loved by all the team and was known as the 'Kitchen Mum'. She looked after all the team in the kitchen, especially the younger ones.

"She had three children and five grandchildren who she thought the world of and both her family and Talardy family are devastated at her loss."

Money raised from the Halloween quiz will go towards Gina's grandchildren for Christmas.

"Gina always worked hard to be able to give her grandchildren a great Christmas and the team at the Talardy want to carry on her wishes," Frank said.

"We know she would want us to give them the best Christmas possible as their first Christmas without their Nan is going to be difficult.

"Gina was an extremely generous person and she would give you her last pound if she knew you needed it despite the fact that she didn't have a lot herself.

"Gina was a matriarchal figure in the Talardy family that was loved by all and she will always be part of the Talardy."
