RHYL and District returned to winning ways with a hard-fought 26-3 victory over Llangollen.
The Dragons produced a fantastic defensive performance in difficult conditions which was the catalyst behind their success, and the result leaves them in fifth position in the WR National League Division Two North standings ahead of the two-week Six Nations break.
A cagey opening for both sides was turned on its head midway through the half when Dru Roberts powered over to open the scoring for the home side.
The visitors responded with a penalty soon after for what turned out to be their only score of the afternoon, but this provoked a strong response from the hosts and they pulled further clear thanks to a close range effort from hooker Cail Hughes, and Roberts capped off a sensational individual performance by crossing the white wash for his second of the afternoon.
Winger Stuart Fell Cook finished off an impressive team move to touch down for the final try of the gam in a dominant win which featured superb performances from Jason Blackmore and Greg Proffit.
The Dragon’s coaching staff of Seb Vidal and Mike Batey stated they were “delighted with the attitude and application of the young side”.
