A PRESTATYN rugby star continues to make a name for himself in England’s top tier after another outstanding weekend display.

Sean Lonsdale helped Exeter Chiefs stay top of the Gallagher Premiership thanks to their 20-14 win at Sale Sharks at the AJ Bell Stadium, three points clear of Saracens in what looks to be a two-horse race for the crown.

The Chiefs looked set for a comfortable win when first-half tries by Ollie Devoto and Don Armand helped to put them 15-0 up at the break.

The home side made a fight of it in the second period when Sam James and Will Cliff both went over in quick succession, but talented flanker Lonsdale made a significant impact after coming on as a substitute and touched down for the decisive score late on to seal a 12th triumph in 15 league games for the Chiefs.

Lonsdale attended Prestatyn Hugh School before moving to Rydal Penrhos School in Colwyn Bay, where he later became a part of the school’s Rugby Academy that is run in partnership with Principality Premiership side RGC 1404 and the Welsh Rugby Union.

He then made the move from the Welsh domestic set-up to the Chiefs, and has made a considerable impact for their senior side this year after a successful loan spell at Cornish Pirates.

The 21-year-old’s efforts so far this term have also caught the eye of national media outlets, with Lonsdale recently starring in BBC Sport online and The Rugby Paper features.
