Johann Berg Gudmundsson struck a late equaliser as Burnley grabbed a 1-1 draw against Premier League leaders Manchester City at Turf Moor.
Danilo had looked like proving an unlikely match-winner for Pep Guardiola’s side with a fine strike after 22 minutes of an otherwise frustrating day for City.
But, after Raheem Sterling spurned a gilt-edged chance to put the game beyond doubt, the Clarets grew in confidence and earned reward when Gudmundsson turned in Matt Lowton’s deep cross.

Star Man – Ederson
The Brazil keeper’s performance was impressive but it owed much to Burnley’s pressure. The 24-year-old brilliantly kept out Ben Mee’s first-half volley and then went one better to tip Aaron Lennon’s powerful shot onto the bar in the second half. He could do little to prevent Gudmundsson’s close-range effort late on.
Moment of the match
So many of Manchester City’s goals come from sweeping team moves or intricate play, but Danilo’s opener was simply a superb strike. The full-back received the ball from Bernardo Silva after a short corner and, with no Burnley players closing down, the Brazil international unleashed an unstoppable right-footed effort into Nick Pope’s top corner from 25 yards.
Stat of the match
Gudmundsson quietly goes about his business but, statistically, no one has been involved in more Burnley goals than the Iceland international this season. His second goal of the campaign was deserved after a spell of pressure from the hosts.
