CPD Y Rhyl 1879 claimed a penalty shootout victory against Flint Mountain FC in the weekend's JD Welsh Cup first round.
Hosting the tier two team at Belle Vue, both teams displayed periods of dominance throughout the early stages, with Jonny Bravo and Dylan Proctor making notable contributions.
Rhyl's first goal came courtesy of Tom Kemp, with help from Danny Clarke.
Sturdy and precise, Kemp navigated himself in the box and fired home from a corner, giving Rhyl a 1-0 advantage.
The visitors stepped up their game in the second half.
Flint Mountain’s Aaron Simpson didn't hesitate to capitalise on a free kick opportunity, sending a clear header into the net and making it 1-1.
The game ended in a draw and they went to a penalty shootout.

Following the win, Gareth Thomas said: "Overall if we’re being honest if it were to be a league game a draw would have been a fair result."
He praised Olli Staveley for scoring despite having missed a penalty three weeks prior, commenting: "Credit to Ollie Staveley following a missed penalty against Porthmadog 3 weeks ago, he stepped up again and made no mistake."
On Reid's game-changing saves, Thomas commended: "Fair play to Reidy (Adam Reid|) he was outstanding saving the last 2."
Rhyl's next match is on home turf against Llanrwst in the Ardal north-west, set for a 2.30pm kick-off.
