MELIDEN FC have made another significant addition behind the scenes with a former member of Prestatyn Town’s committee.

The NWCFA Tier 4 (East) Premier Division outfit confirmed that Tony O’Reilly will be coming on board to assist club secretary Peter Evans and chairman Steve Boyle with the progression of the club off the pitch.

This is the latest in a series of former Seasiders’ figures who made the switch to The Miners following the resignation of Town boss Neil Gibson.

A joint statement from Evans and Boyle, said: “We spoke with Tony a few weeks back at length and we’re glad to see he has finally agreed to join Meliden Football Club.

“I knew he would buy into the ideas of where we want to take the club over the next few years, and he shares the same vision as us as well as the rest of the committee.

“Tony comes to the club with a wealth of experience having spent 12 years at Prestatyn Town and I feel he can help the club move forward in the right direction."

O’Reilly – who is fondly known as ‘Apple’ – is widely known and respected member of the North Wales footballing community and was part of the Town committee during their memorable voyage to Europe after winning the Welsh Cup for the first time in the club’s history.

He added. "I would like to thank the committee at Meliden for asking me to join their set up.

“With me already knowing the likes of Peter, Simon New and a few of the current players as well as Bolly and JP joining the club last year, it felt like Meliden was the right local club for me to get back involved with.”
