MELIDEN continue to build a competitive squad ahead of the new season with the signing of Aled Evans.

The former Bala Town Academy player becomes the latest talented player to join the Miners as they look to make an immediate impact in the NWCFA Tier 4 (East) Premier Division next season.

Evans is returning to the area after completing his studies at Cardiff University and after receiving a number of offers, he has decided to join the exciting project building at Meliden.

This is another significant coup for the club, who could emerge as one of the league’s surprise packages when the Football Association of Wales gets the green light from the Welsh Government to get the season underway.

The club might be one of the less fancied sides in Tier 4 next season, but with the likes of Dan Porter and former Stoke City youth player Liam Smith in their ranks, it could see the Miners attain some notable scalps during the campaign.

There is still no information regarding any return to competitive action for anything below the JD Cymru Premier, which will get underway on September 13 after being granted elite athlete status by the Welsh Government.

This will not include fans in the stands initially, but providing there is no spike in coronavirus cases across the country it may be reviewed a few weeks into the season.
