MELIDEN have made another impressive addition to their squad in the form of Liam Smith.

The Miners are looking to make their presence felt in the new NWCFA Tier 4 (East) Premier Division next season, which is a step up in class for the set-up following the new criteria being implemented by the Football Association of Wales.

Smith brings a tremendous pedigree to the squad and has been part of the side previously, and he is another that is sure to make a significant contribution whenever competitive action is permitted to resume by the governing body.

The player started his fledgeling career as a member of the Stoke City Academy, gaining tremendous experience in a professional environment before his eventual release.

This was followed by a spell at Holywell Town before Smith made the move to Prestatyn Town in 2016 as an 18-year-old under manager Neil Gibson.

He is a versatile player that can operate in a number of different positions, which is sure to be of use to the Miners against some stern competition next term.

Smith’s arrival is the latest in a series of eye-catching signings made by the club in recent weeks, which included experienced forward Dan Porter, and the club is also making some impressive improvements to their playing surface and facilities in readiness for the new campaign.
