PRESTATYN Town have made a key appointment to the club’s thriving Academy system.

The Seasiders’ confirmed that Anthony Gomez has taken up the position of Academy Operations Manager, and he will now begin working with Town boss and Head of Academy Neil Gibson on boosting the development of aspiring stars in the set-up.

Gomez is no stranger to the Motion Finance Stadium after putting his knowledge to good use with the first team and youth squads last season.

This is another huge addition to the Town fold, with the club looking to retain their JD Cymru North title next season and secure an elusive promotion back to the top-flight.

It was something they did not manage to attain last time out despite securing the title comfortably over Flint Town United, who took their place in the JD Cymru Premier after the Seasiders’ were unable to attain their FAW Tier 1 Domestic Licence on appeal.

Gomez, said: “I am delighted to be offered the opportunity to continue to build on the fantastic work that has been done by Steve Giblin and the team at Prestatyn Town Academy over the last couple of years.

“Having spent many years coaching within grassroots in the area and building strong relationships with managers and clubs in many age groups, My passion has always been clear regarding player development, and I take a holistic, player-centred approach to coaching.

“Having worked closely with Neil last year with the first team, it was clear to me that his philosophy on local players having the opportunity to become the very best they can be, align with my own beliefs.

“One club in Wales stands out a country mile in regard players going through the Academy to play either first-team football or be guided and developed to play at a higher level. That club is Prestatyn Town.

“I look forward to working with an excellent team of coaches and backroom staff that I know from experience give our local players 100 per cent commitment, support and top quality coaching in a fantastic environment.”
