CPD Y Rhyl 1879 manager Gareth Thomas has bolstered his squad and backroom team in recent days.

The newly formed club continue to make waves ahead of their inaugural season in the NWCFA Tier 4 (East) Premier Division next term, with the former Conwy Borough boss going back to one of his old clubs to secure his latest recruit.

Attacking left-back Dan Lloyd is now officially confirmed at Belle Vue after joining from Lock Stock Arla Northern League title contenders Denbigh Town, and the talented player was a key contributor for Dewi Llion’s side during the previous campaign.

Thomas, said: "I'm delighted to get Dan in having worked with him previously. Once I knew Dan was available it was a no brainer to bring him to CPD Y Rhyl 1879."

The boss also turned to a dependable figure to complete his staff working behind the scenes, with the club confirming the appointment of Colin Edwards as first-team physio.

Thomas has a previous working relationship with Edwards from their time together at Buckley Town, Denbigh and Conwy, with the physio agreeing to come out of retirement for the opportunity.

This is the latest in a series of positive additions in recent weeks, with the club looking to mount a serious title challenge in the face of stern competition next season.

Their squad is littered with quality players with the right blend of youth and experience, with Thomas expected to make further additions before competitive action gets underway.

The club are still seeking investment to secure Belle Vue after reaching a price agreement of £450,000 with ground owner David Butters, and any interested parties should email sponsorship@rhylfc.co.uk for more information.
