RHUDDLAN Town manager Wayne Hughes is still looking to add “one or two” new faces to his squad next season.

The Vale of Clwyd and Conwy League Premier Division champions have been victims of their own success this summer, with rival clubs from across the region taking five of their more influential squad members during a frenzied period of pre-season activity.

Hughes will be without the services of top score Jay Whitehouse and playmaker Mathew Beach after both opted to join the newly former CPD Y Rhyl 1879, and this represents a blow to a club that is looking to establish themselves in the NWCFA (East) Premier Division next season.

A large number of Hughes’ title-winning squad have agreed to return despite interest from elsewhere, and former skipper Keiran Evans will also be making a playing return after assisting the set-up in a coaching capacity during their championship triumph.

Town are now back in training at their Pengwern College base to ready themselves for a return to action, and Hughes is eager for a couple more to further bolster his options during the campaign.

He said: “Due to losing five players to rival teams the club are looking to add at least one or two more players to the squad.

“We will be playing in Tier 4 next season with some fantastic teams involved in it. Message the club if you fancy a new challenge.”

Club officials have been busy behind the scenes working on ground improvements to get the facility up to its required standard in accordance with Football Association of Wales regulations.

This will enable them to use the college pitch as their primary home going forward, which is another significant plus for the ambitious set-up.
