THE North Football Association were crowned Vale of Clwyd and Conwy League Division One champions by the narrowest of margins.

The recently formed club made a lasting impression during their first year of competitive action, and they managed to attain the title despite strong claims from Llysfaen.

League officials opted for a points per game to curtail the season after the Football Association of Wales opted to do the same, with only 0.03 separating the top two sides.

This has been the cause for significant debate on social media, with Llysfaen releasing a statement outlining their disappointment at the decision.

A post on their Facebook page, read: “The league have made a decision on the league standings and due to having played a game less (due to three games being cancelled for having no referee available, our successes in cup competitions especially the NWCFA Cup, as well as our last game being cancelled due to the coronavirus) we lose the title by 0.03 points due to the PPG ruling, finishing second instead.

“Everyone at the club is massively disappointed at this, especially when it's been lost through no fault of our own and have in essence been punished for being successful.

“Nothing can be done about it however and the club would like to congratulate NFA on their league title win.”

There has been nothing between the two sides during a fantastic campaign. Llysfaen were three points behind NFA with a game in hand at the time of the suspension.

This would have seen them go level on points with their title rivals, with the club also having a superior goal difference over the newly crowned champions.
