LLANSANNAN manager Tom Lewis has outlined confidence in the club’s future despite having their bid for honours denied.

The club were contesting on multiple fronts before the initial suspension of domestic fixtures due to the coronavirus pandemic. Despite initially hoping for a resumption of the campaign, the Vale of Clwyd and Conwy League opted to follow the Football Association of Wales’ lead and curtail the season.

This left Sannan out of luck in their attempts to secure silverware in Lewis’ first season in charge, but despite his disappointment, the boss is hugely encouraged about the club’s current direction.

Lewis, said: “It’s disappointing that we’ve ended up potless despite winning 17 of our 21 games, but on the flip side I’m immensely proud of the lads for how they’ve played and conducted themselves this season.

“Off the field, the club’s ambition and direction are exciting for all of us and I truly believe there’s no limit to what we can achieve.

“Also the Llan Siro will boast some of the best facilities in the area for next season which is fantastic for us.”

The club remains on course to meet new Tier 4 criteria which is being implemented by the FAW next season. This represents a significant achievement and one that everyone associated with Llansannan has worked tirelessly to achieve in recent months.

Lewis himself is still preparing for a marathon from the ground to the top of Mount Snowdon to raise further funds for the club’s development, which will take place once social distancing measures have been relaxed by the Welsh government.

Sannan eventually ended the league season in third position behind champions Rhuddlan Town and Llanfairfechan Town.

They were also set to take on all-conquering Bangor 1876 in the NWCFA Junior Cup and also had a chance at further knockout competition success before the season was brought to a premature halt.

Providing they pass the incoming regulations, Lewis’ side will take their place in Tier 4 next term.
