RHYL FC have revealed the financial sum needed to ensure they remain in existence.

The JD Cymru North side held a video conference meeting on Saturday evening to discuss three offers of investment, two of which were not deemed credible following due diligence by the board of directors.

They are awaiting clarification on whether the third and final offer is worthy of consideration to support their expression of interest.

This is a bitter blow for the club, who are now looking for a minimum of £175,000 to meet running costs and enable the club to “proceed on the resumption of the playing season”.

A Rhyl FC statement, read: “The club can confirm that if there is any individual(s), supporter, community and/or a business consortium that could raise and guarantee a minimum of £175k investment to meet the costs to enable the club to proceed on the resumption of the playing season we request you show your interest urgently as soon as possible.”

Chairman Paul Higginson has extended the deadline for any interested parties to come forward, with April 17 at 5pm the new date.

If an external investment is not secured by this point, the club looks set to go into liquidation and end a squad that dates back to the 1870s.

The £175,000 will only cover the running costs for the 2020/21 season and will go towards ground rent, utility bills and other administrative matters.

“The Board of Directors continue to have daily communications and video conference meetings to seek and discuss every possible solution in trying to save Rhyl Football Club,” added the statement.

“All Directors want to thank the support from all fans including the continued efforts by the Rhyl Fans Association during this difficult time on their continued fundraising efforts.”
