LLANSANNAN manager Tom Lewis has called for clarification on the long-term prospects of finishing the domestic season.

The young boss has enjoyed a fine first campaign at the helm of the Vale of Clwyd and Conwy League Premier Division side, with the club still in contention for four trophies.

This is now in significant doubt thanks to the coronavirus pandemic, and Lewis urged the Football Association of Wales and the North Wales Coast Football Association for some “insight” into what the next step is going to be.

He said: “I personally don’t see any other outcome than the season being declared null and void, as disappointing as that would be.

“Obviously there are more important things than football going on at the moment but at some point, I would hope that the FAW and NWCFA could give us some insight as to what the outcome is likely to be.

“My hope would be for this season to be completed as from our perspective we’re still in contention for all four competitions, but as this is an unprecedented situation It’s very difficult to predict what the outcome will be.

“Either way our club is in a very strong position to push on and hopefully win things either this season or next.”

Lewis also revealed the club is in a “good” position to meet the FAW’s new tier four criteria in time for the deadline.

Although work to improve the ground has taken a back seat due to the countrywide lockdown, the manager is confident things will be ready ahead of time.

“We’ve already made arrangements for fencing and dugouts to be in place but obviously the coronavirus situation has meant that we’ve had to put the work on hold for the time being,” added Lewis.

“We’re confident we’ll have the work done by the deadline set by the powers that be.

“We’ve been asking the players to look after themselves during this break, most of them are still working full time and have been exercising when time allows but obviously it might take a couple of training sessions or friendlies to regain that all important match sharpness if the season does resume.”
