A STUNNING second half display saw Caernarfon Town secure a 3-1 home victory over Newtown.

The Canaries’ secured their first three points of the JD Cymru Premier Championship Conference, with skipper Nathan Craig emerging as the hero once again on his 200th appearance for the club.

Huw Griffiths and Sean Eardley’s side are now on a three-game unbeaten run in all competitions, which will stand them in good stead ahead of their home encounter against defending champions The New Saints on Friday.

A poor first half in terms of quality brought little in the way of chances, with Sion Bradley carving up a moment of individual magic before firing narrowly over Dave Jones’ goal.

After the break saw the Cofis’ come out with a renewed sense of purpose, and they were rewarded on 58 minutes when Gareth Evans reacted first to put away a rebound following Jones’ save from a Craig free kick.

This completely swung momentum in favour of the hosts, who took full advantage yet again soon after when a Joe Williams cross was met by the head of Evans, who finished superbly off the upright for his second of the evening.

The home side saved the best for last to clinch an important three points, with Craig marking his double century in the yellow and green with a trademark free kick that flew into the top corner to round off the scoring.

Next up for the Canaries’ is a TNS side who have been vulnerable for the first time in more than a decade this term.

They are currently four points behind league-leading Connah’s Quay Nomads following their dramatic 2-2 draw at home to Barry Tow United.
