PRESTATYN Town edged one step closer to the JD Cymru North title with a 3-0 win at Llangefni Town.

The Seasiders’ are now within touching distance of a return to the top-flight after another professional performance on their travels, leaving them comfortably clear at the summit ahead of their home encounter against Llandudno on Saturday.

The visitors were handed a golden opportunity to break the deadlock on nine minutes when they were given a penalty after Jack Kenny was brought down in the box.

Strike partner Jordan Davies held his nerve to despatch the spot kick past Stephen Sinclair to open the scoring.

Things almost got better for the away side soon after when a Zebb Edwards header struck the post after good work from Danny Davies, and Kenny forced Sinclair into a smart stop with 34 on the clock.

The home rear-guard was working exceptionally hard to keep Neil Gibson’s side at bay during the first period, but they could not prevent Town from adding a second shortly after the interval.

It came courtesy of Edwards, who picked up a loose ball on the edge of the area before rifling an attempt into the bottom corner.

Kenny had the ball in the net on 58 minutes after some good work from Jordan Davies, but the experienced forward was flagged for offside and the goal was chalked off.

Sinclair had to be at his best to deny Dan Roberts’ sensational volley from an Edwards free kick on the hour mark, with Jack Higgins unable to take advantage of a slight opening with 65 gone.

The visitors finally sealed another crucial three points in their quest for the crown on 76 minutes as Danny Davies capped off a tremendous individual display with a goal of his own following a rare error by Sinclair.

Credit to the hosts, who kept fighting despite the deficit but were unable to grab a consolation for the efforts late on.
