NANTLLE Vale’s hopes of a top six finish in Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division One were given a boost thanks to a 4-1 home win over Prestatyn Sports.

The visitors were in the game for the majority of the first half before Rhys Williams finished well to open the scoring on the half hour mark, and they doubled their tally at a crucial stage thanks to a Gethin Thomas strike three minutes before the interval.

After the break saw things go from bad to worse for the away side during the opening exchanges, with a fine passage of play resulting in Williams despatching his second of the afternoon on 48 minutes.

Full credit to Sports’ for more than matching their opponents for the remainder of the first period, and they were presented with a golden chance to get themselves back into the game on 83 minutes after being awarded a penalty.

Mike Jones held his nerve from the spot to reduce the arrears, but any hopes the visitors had of mounting a sensational comeback were dashed on 87 minutes when Williams rounded off a clinical individual display with his hat-trick to complete the scoring.

Penrhyndeudraeth now find themselves in eighth position following an eye-catching 2-0 success at Bodedern Athletic.

The away side managed to go into the break a goal to the good when Bryn Humphries finished well on 40 minutes.

They repelled some significant pressure from Ricky Williams’ men after the break and managed to seal another impressive triumph thanks to a Tomos Hughes strike with four minutes remaining.
