ONE of the UK’s fastest-growing sports has received funding for a new club based in North Wales.
British Dodgeball secured much-needed revenue from Sport Wales with the intention of creating a new junior club in the region, which will be based in Kinmel Bay.
The area’s Y Morfa leisure centre has held three successful taster sessions to far with a significant response, and weekly coaching has now been arranged every Monday evening.
The youth Dodgeball club will take place from 7-8pm for children aged eight to 11, with a 12-16 age group session to take place from 8-9pm.
Dodgeball has emerged as an extremely popular sporting activity in primary schools over recent years.
British Dodgeball has more than 100 affiliated clubs and run numerous national, regional, university and junior leagues.
The World Championships will take place on British soil in Glasgow in September, and the sport is set to continue to grow considerably over the next decade.
Each session costs £2.50 with the first free of charge. Organisers are also looking into the possibility of running Leaders Awards for local young people to become qualified Dodgeball Coaches.
