BRO CERNYW moved into third position with a hard-fought 1-0 home victory over Y Glannau.

The Vale of Clwyd and Conwy League Premier Division outfit were pushed all the way by Christian Fontana’s men after taking a lead in the first period, moving them above Llanfairfechan Town and Llansannan having played two games more.

The hosts were presented with a golden chance to take the lead on 34 minutes when they were awarded a penalty, and Colin Roberts kept his cool to put away the spot kick and break the deadlock.

Credit to the visitors, who threw everything at their opponents after the interval with a view to salvage something from the contest, but they were unable to penetrate the resolute Bro rear-guard on their way to a clean sheet.

Improving Division One side Denbigh Development picked up another impressive win on their travels thanks to a 5-3 triumph at Rhyl All Stars.

Craig Morris’ young side have shown signs of life in recent weeks after a difficult campaign, and they pulled nine points clear of their basement dwelling opponents following another good attacking display.

In-form player Joel Rowlands once again played a significant role in his side’s success, netting twice during the contest to extend his outstanding exploits in front of goal.

Morgan Jones, Ryan Williams and teenager Rob Lawson also hit the target for the visitors, condemning the All Stars to an 11th league loss in 13 outings.
