PRESTATYN Town’s JD Welsh Cup quarter-final clash at Flint Town United has been selected for live television coverage.

The Seasiders’ take on their nearest contenders for the JD Cymru North title at the last eight stage, which guarantees a second tier team will be in the semi-finals of the prestigious competition.

The contest will be the S4C Sgorio game of the round and will air from Cae y Castell on Friday, February 28 from 7.55pm.

This is the first time that a fixture involving two JD Cymru North sides has been bradcast live on the channel, and Neil Gibson’s men will be looking for a similar result to the one that saw them emerge victorious 3-2 in the corresponding league fixtures in October.

The two clubs will do battle at the Motion Finance Stadium on February 22 in a game that could see Town all-but secure the championship should they secure another three points against the Silkmen.

Both sides have lifted the illustrious trophy on one occasion during their history.

United won in the 1953/54 season with a 2-0 victory over Chester in front of almost 16,000 people at the Racecourse ground in Wrexham, while the Seasiders’ claimed the coveted silverware for the first and only time back in the 2012/13 season, under current manager Gibson, with a memorable 3-1 victory over Bangor City at the same venue.

The game will also be broadcast live on Sgorio’s Facebook page, the S4C Clic app and iPlayer.
