PRESTATYN Town tightened their grip on the JD Cymru North title with a 4-1 come-from-behind victory at Ruthin Town.

The Seasiders’ recovered from an early setback to emerge with another comfortable win that moves them 15 points clear of Flint Town United having played two more, and Neil Gibson’s men entertain Porthmadog on Saturday before preparations begin for their trip to Bangor City on February 15.

Despite the eventual result it was the home side who drew first blood when Craig Wilkinson found himself in some space on 11 minutes, and the experienced player held his nerve to fire past Jon Rushton to open the scoring.

The hosts had the ball in the net again on 16 minutes only for the effort to be ruled out for offside, and this proved to be crucial as the visitors levelled matters just before the break when Oli Buckley converted a chance after good work from Macauley Taylor with 41 on the clock.

After the break saw the away side grab the advantage for the first time when Kai Edwards’ kick-off bounced into the path of Danny Davies, who rifled a superb strike past Ryan Goldston to put Town ahead.

A powerful free kick from Zebb Edwards came within inches of doubling their lead on 52 minutes, but the attempt rattled the crossbar with Goldston beaten.

They did not have to wait much longer for a third, which arrived on 53 minutes when Myles Hart finished off an outstanding move involving Taylor and Davies to put more breathing space between the Seasiders’ and the hosts.

The introduction of Jack Kenny and Michael Parker brought some experience into the visiting line-up as they looked to see the game out, and this brought a fourth for the title favourites to secure their 20th triumph in 23 league games on 83 minutes.

Once again it was Hart who was the beneficiary of some neat approach play, converting a rebound following a Kenny effort that hit the post for his second of the game.
