ABERGELE bowed out of the Premier Cup at the second-round stage after they were beaten 3-1 at Llanfairfechan Town.

Th Vale of Clwyd and Conwy League Premier Division title rivals were involved in a physical knockout encounter that eventually went the way of the home side, leaving Gele to focus on their pursuit of Rhuddlan Town in their quest for the championship.

Goals from Elliot Croston, Jacob Fraser and Sion Devereux were enough for the hosts to progress to the next stage of the competition, with Kieran Holland’s reply for the visitors unable to have an impact on the overall outcome of the contest.

Gele have yet to lose in the league this season, winning seven and drawing five of their 12 games to date.

They will aim to put this disappointment behind them during their trip to Bro Cernyw on Saturday, and the squad received a significant boost with the signing of James Hay from JD Cymru North leaders Prestatyn Town.

The combative midfielder arrived at the Motion Finance Stadium prior to the 2018/19 season, following Leon Field to the Seasiders’ after playing a leading role for Kinmel Bay in their Vale of Clwyd and Conwy League Premier Division title triumph.

He made a significant number of first team appearances for Town last season but has found chances limited under Neil Gibson this time around after a series of big-name signings in the summer.
