LLANFAIRFECHAN Town lost ground in their bid for the Vale of Clwyd and Conwy League Premier Division title after they were held 2-2 at home by Cerrigydrudion.

The promotion hopefuls had to settle for a share of the spoils in their first game since the departure of influential midfielder Ryan Pope, who departed the club to sign for Gwynedd League leaders Bangor 1876 at the opening of the January transfer window.

Town now sit four points behind Rhuddlan Town with a game in hand after winning seven and drawing one of their opening nine contests.

Goals from Iwan Jones and Ryan Lewis put the home side in a commanding position during the contest, but a Jac Edwards brace snatched an unlikely point for Cerrig on their travels.

Bro Cernyw now occupy fourth position thanks to an impressive 3-1 victory at Llanelwy Athletic.

The visitors opened the scoring on 25 minutes through an Owain Hughes finish, and Bryn Griffiths finished off a fine team move with 36 on the clock to double their advantage.

Hughes rounded off a fine first half display with his second of the afternoon a minute from the break, and despite Steve Kirk netting a consolation for the home side after the interval on 55 minutes, it failed to have an impact on the overall outcome.

Llandudno Athletic picked up their third win in seven league contests this term with a 3-1 home triumph over Rhos United.

Second half strikes from Lloyd McElroy, Alec Stokes and Joel Jones were enough for Rhys Lane’s side to come away with the points, with Ben Wheeler netting United’s solitary effort.
