RHYL All Stars were unable to make the NWCFA Junior Cup third round as they were heavily beaten 8-1 at Gwynedd League champions Menai Bridge Tigers.

The Vale of Clwyd and Conwy League Division One side produced a spirited display in the face of stern opposition but had no answer to the Tigers’ threat in the final third, with Dale Owens and Kelvin Frazer putting the home side two-up within the opening 12 minutes of the tie.

Another neat passage of play on 26 minutes saw Mitchell Jones extend the hosts’ cushion, and Bridge added to their tally during the remainder of the first period when Jones and Frazer secured a brace apiece.

After the break saw Tom Parry notch a fifth for the home side on 46 minutes, but the All Stars did manage to secure a consolation for their efforts midway through the half.

This joy proved to be fleeting as Callum Davidson converted another chance on 79 minutes, and their misery was compounded with 81 on the clock as Jones fired in once again to secure his hat-trick and complete the rout.

Sean Sheriden (2) and Reece Kearney were on the mark for Llysfaen in their impressive 3-1 home victory over Llanfairpwll, and Femi Allison’s four-goal salvo was the highlight of Rhos United’s emphatic 8-1 success over Henllan.

There was no such luck for Meliden, who were thrashed 4-0 at Trearddur Bay Bulls thanks to goals from Gwynfor Owen, Matty Roberts and a Justin Williams brace, with a solitary Ryan Jones strike condemning Cerrigydrudion to a 1-0 reverse at Bro Goronwy.

Llanfairfechan Town pushed high-profile Bangor 1876 all the way before eventually falling 4-1 after extra-time, with Sion Devereux hitting an equaliser for the visitors in the second period.
