PRESTATYN Town saw their lead at the JD Cymru North summit reduced for the second straight weekend following a 1-1 draw at Guilsfield.

The Seasiders’ were unable to get back to winning ways during their tricky Friday night trip, and their cushion over Flint Town United is now just two points heading into a crucial series of fixtures over the festive period.

Town’s immediate attention now turns to the JD Welsh Cup third round and another long trek to Penrhyncoch, who handed Neil Gibson’s men their second league loss of the season in dramatic fashion last month.

The away side carved out their first real opening on ten minutes when Dan Roberts fired over following good work from Kai Edwards.

Their persistence finally paid off on 35 minutes when a sublime through ball from Aaron White sent Danny Davies through on goal, who made no mistake with the finish to break the deadlock.

This joy proved to be short lived thanks to an incredible response from the hosts, who levelled things up two minutes following the restart when JoJo Harries finished well after slick move in the final third.

Ben Maher’s long-range attempt a minute before the break forced a good save from Guils’ stopper and former Town player Mike Jones, with Davies flashing an effort wide following the interval with an hour on the clock.

A fine fingertip save from Town keeper Jon Rushton kept the scores level on 66 minutes, and Jones had to be at his best to keep out Alex Jones’ opportunity in stoppage time to ensure both teams had something to show for their efforts.

Gibson’s side have won 13, drawn one and lost two of their opening 16 fixtures to conclude one half of the campaign as the championship favourites look to make a return to the JD Cymru Premier at the second time of asking.
