RHUDDLAN Town extended their unbeaten start to the Vale of Clwyd and Conwy League Premier Division season with a resounding 8-0 home rout over Rhos United.

The title contenders displayed their tremendous attacking prowess once again to pick up another three points, which moves them above championship rivals Abergele, Llansannan and Llanfairfechan Town.

Manager Wayne Hughes, said: “It was an absolutely fantastic performance from the lads, with three players making debuts.

“Ollie Saxton and Josh Jones came off the bench and did very well, and Ben Smith had a fantastic game for us in central midfield, so we are excited to see what’s to come from him.

“Credit to Rhos who tried to play from the back but that really suits us with our style of play.”

The home side got off to the best possible start when Jay Whitehouse found the net on six minutes, and the same player was on hand to double their advantage with another well-taken attempt with 14 on the clock.

Whitehouse was in clinical mood during the opening stages of the clash, and he managed to hit the target yet again to seal his hat-trick on 20 minutes to give Town a three-goal cushion at the break.

After the interval saw the tempo noticeably drop until full-back Josh Parry unleashed an unstoppable effort into the net on 70 minutes, and this was swiftly followed by a quick-fire brace from Matty Rees during a period of sustained pressure on 73 and 78 to secure the points.

There was further cause for celebration late on when debutant Ollie Saxton, who made an eye-catching contribution from the bench, started and finished a superb passing move on 81 minutes to round off the scoring.

Town have now won six and drawn two of their opening eight league contests, netting 39 and conceding 16 to leave them one point clear of Gele with a game in hand.
