RHYL and District moved to the Specsavers National League Division Two North summit with a 41-0 home rout over Llanidloes.

The promotion chasing Dragons’ returned after a mini-break and picked up where they left off with a polished overall performance to seal another bonus point triumph, which leaves them three points clear of Nant Conwy 2nds ahead of their trip to Bangor on Saturday.

The home side began the contest on the front foot and notched their first try through a powerful run from centre Jason Blackmore in the opening exchanges, and livewire Reeve Wright also got in on the act with an impressive score during a rampant first period.

Tom Williams demonstrated his immense skill set to go over twice in quick succession to secure a first-half bonus point, and this same pattern of play continued after the break thanks in no small part to the contribution from the formidable Dragons’ pack.

This brought with it further tries as Wright crossed the white wash for his second of the afternoon, with Tom Jones and an exceptional solo effort from Brad White completing the rout.

The title contenders have now won each of their five league games so far this term, with Jimmy Waring’s side scoring 152 points and conceding just 28.

There was no such luck for the Dragons’ youth side, who emerged from their long trip to South Walian side Brynamman with a spirited 17-0 reverse.

A strong overall performance was marred by two lapses in concentration that had a considerable impact on the eventual result, but coach Angus Garbutt was full of praise for his side’s commitment and attitude during their Youth Bowl loss.
