LLANRWST United moved into the top sixth with a convincing 3-1 triumph at Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division One basement dwellers Prestatyn Sports.

The Rwsters’ have been in tremendous form of late and continued this with an excellent all-round display against a Sports’ side that are still searching for their first league success of the campaign.

A tight first half saw both sides spurn good opportunities in difficult conditions, but United went into the break a goal to the good when Chris Nicholson managed to hit the target in stoppage time.

The visitors came out following the interval with an increased tempo and were rewarded on 48 minutes when prolific forward Callum Parry extended his exceptional run of recent form with another superb effort.

Sports responded well to the setback and got themselves back into the game on the hour mark when Ashley Wood made the most of some space to reduce the arrears and give them a fighting chance of salvaging something heading into the final quarter of the contest.

They were unable to make their significant pressure count following the goal, and this proved to be crucial as Parry capped off another clinical individual display with his second of the afternoon with 76 on the clock to secure their fifth win in nine outings this term.

Llandudno Albion lost ground at the summit after they were held to a 1-1 draw at home by Glan Conwy.

The home side opened the game on the front foot and went ahead on 27 minutes when prolific forward Dave Maddock finished well after a strong period of possession.

After the break saw newly promoted Glan grow more into the game, ensuring they went away with a share of the spoils thanks to a Conor Davies effort with 13 remaining.
