NANTLLE Vale progressed to the FAW Trophy’s last 32 thanks to a narrow 1-0 home victory over Coedpoeth.

The Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division One side have enjoyed some incredible knockout success so far this term, which will culminate in a stern test against in-form Colwyn Bay in the JD Welsh Cup second round on home soil.

They were made to work hard in treacherous conditions against lower league opposition in order to book their place in the hat at Maes Dulyn, but Vale did manage to get their noses in front early on when Ashley Owen made the most of the space afforded to him with a neat finish to break the deadlock.

The home side spurned a number of opportunities to extend their cushion during the remainder of the first period and had to withstands a significant onslaught after the break to see off a spirited effort from the visitors.

In the only other tie involving sides from the region due to the adverse weather, Barmouth and Dyfrryn United made light work of their trip to Llandudno Junction with a convincing 4-0 success on their travels.

A brace from Rob Murfet did the majority of the damage, with Bobby Griffiths and Osian Owen also on target for the Magpies during a dominant display at the Arriva Stadium.
