A SPECIAL collection was held for a Danny Gosset during the clash between Rhyl and Colwyn Bay.
The JD Cymru North rivals held a bucket collection in aid of the former Lilies’ standout and current Bala Town star throughout Saturday’s contest to aid Gosset’s recovery, with the midfielder diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in August.
More than £220 was raised by both sets of supporters, which will be added to the thousands already donated by the Welsh footballing community in aid of the popular figure.
A statement on Rhyl FC’s Twitter account, read: “Massive thanks to the generosity of supporters at today's (Saturday) Rhyl FC v Colwyn Bay FC game as over £220 was raised for former Lilywhite Daniel Gosset as he undertakes treatment for Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma “Thanks also to Bev Owen for her assistance this afternoon with the collection.”
The ex-Wales C international has enjoyed a phenomenal career within the domestic game so far, turning out for high-profile clubs such as Bala Town, Rhyl, The New Saints and Cefn Druids in addition to the Citizens.
He has been undergoing chemotherapy at the Christie hospital, Manchester and was diagnosed following a series of tests after complaining of hip pain during the Lakesiders’ pre-season programme.
