AN incredible Lock Stock Division Two Challenge Cup clash between Y Felinheli and Holyhead Town saw the former emerge victorious by a jaw-dropping score of 7-6.
The fourth tier rivals were involved in a pulsating clash from start-to-finish that produced a goal every 6.9 minutes on average, with Griff John producing a mesmerising effort in front of goal to lead the home side to success.
The clinical finisher was at the top of his game throughout the tie to emerge with no fewer than five successful attempts as a result of his efforts, with Iwan Owen also aiding his side’s cause with a par of well-taken finishes.
Credit to the Harbourmen, they made this extremely interesting throughout the contest during a rousing second half display, but goals from Asa Thomas (2), Jordie Murphy, Gary Jo Owen, Rob Thomas and Bryn Roberts were not enough to see them progress to the next stage of the competition.
There was better fortune for high-flying Gaerwen, who had efforts from Paul Bryant, Sion Pritchard and Andrew Wannop to thank for a comfortable 3-0 success over Amlwch Town, and Aberffraw are also in the hat thanks to a 3-2 triumph over Barmouth and Dyffryn United.
Pentraeth were unable to replicate this feat after a poor display overall resulted in a heavy 4-0 home loss at the hands of Penmaenmawr Phoenix.
