PENMAENMAWR Phoenix produced a fine second half display to come away with a 3-0 victory from their trip to Aberffraw.

A tense first half brought little in the way of goalmouth action, but the away side turned the screw after the break and went ahead on 65 minutes when prolific forward Mike Lundstram finished well following some good possession in the build-up.

Another neat passage of play brought further rewards for the visitors on 79 minutes when Hadyn Griffiths made the most of some rare space to steer an opportunity into the net, and Phoenix closed the game out in style thanks to a wonder goal from Darren Hughes in stoppage time.

The talented player rounded off the scoring with a 45-yard strike to put the exclamation point on proceedings.

There was no such luck for Llandudno Amateurs, who were unable to build on their first Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division Two victory in midweek and fell to a 3-1 reverse at Barmouth and Dyffryn United.

Sandy Malone’s men did hold a slender advantage at the break thanks to a goal from Aaron Rogers on 35 minutes, but the Magpies raised the tempo in the second period and pulled clear with strikes from Shane Jones, Andrew Papirnyk and William Jones.

Mochdre Sports were unable to derail league leading Gaerwen’s perfect start to the campaign with a spirited 1-0 loss on their travels.

The visitors got off to the worst possible start when Connor Gordon’s impressive effort put them on the back foot after just two minutes of the contest, and despite their best efforts they were unable to peg by the early pacesetters during what was an encouraging display overall.
