GLAN Conwy picked up their first Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division One win of the season with a 3-2 home triumph over Prestatyn Sports.

The newly promoted side had to work hard for their three points after coming from behind against an under-strength Sports outfit, who began the game well and went ahead on nine minutes when Tom MacDougall made the most of the space afforded to him to divert into the net.

Concerns grew for the hosts after the break when Dean Hyland produced a superb effort just one minute following the restart to double the visitors advantage, but Howard Vaughan’s men picked themselves up and got themselves back into the contest soon after when a Conor Davies attempt found its way into the net.

This was swiftly followed by a leveller that came through an unfortunate own goal midway through the half, and Glan took full advantage of their momentum to take the lead through Danny Landers with 79 on the clock to round off a memorable fightback.

Llandudno Junction claimed derby evening bragging rights with a 4-2 victory at Mochdre Sports.

The Division Two rivals both contributed to a pulsating contest on Tuesday evening, which saw the Railwaymen take a two-goal advantage early on thanks to efforts from Paul Cassidy and Jack Nettleton.

The home side dusted themselves off and got themselves back into the game through a well-taken brace from Tom Roberts, but Junction took a slender lead into the break thanks to a fine effort from Jack Williams on 40 minutes.

After the interval saw Junction increase their cushion on 53 minutes when the versatile Stephen O’Neill’s powerful strike hit the target for what proved to be the final goal of the game.
