KINMEL Bay have been handed an away draw in the first qualifying round of the JD Welsh Cup.

The Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division Two side will look to progress to the next stage of the competition at Llanfairfechan Town, who are expected to be among the leading contenders for the Vale of Clwyd and Conwy League Premier Division title this season after underachieving last term.

Bay enjoyed a fine season back at fourth tier level following their championship triumph under Leon Field and Ryan Taylor, which saw them finish comfortably in mid table after being in the top five for the majority of the campaign.

Newly formed Clwb Pel Droed Bangor 1876 begin their quest for a cup run at home to Llandudno Athletic, with last season’s giant-killers Llandudno Amateurs opening at Nefyn United.

Another eye-catching tie sees Llandudno Junction travel to Aberffraw, and fancied Llannefydd are sure to face a stern test of their credentials during their home clash with Gwalchmai.
