St Asaph paid for a disappointing batting display as they crashed to a nine-wicket defeat at Gresford in the Premier Division of the North Wales Cricket League.

Gresford won the toss and invited St Asaph to bat - a move which paid off in the early overs as St Asaph lost four early wickets. A total of 108 was never enough and Gresford raced to victory for the loss of only one wicket.

Opening bowler Chris Ellwood had Nathanial Scott caught for a duck and it was soon to get worse for the visitors as William Ryan, Danny Ryan and Jason Foulkes all fell for single-figure scores.

Opener Mathew Ryan made 40 and David Lloyd (20) also offered some resistance but once they were parted the rest of the innings folded as John Bell claimed five for 26 for the home side.

Liam Moores took the only Gresford wicket to fall before Sam Thompson (42 not out) and Daniel Williams (41 not out) eased Gresford to a comfortable win.
